The Minneola Wildcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Ingalls Bulldogs had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Minneola took a 54-40 bruising from Ingalls. While losing is never fun, Minneola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Ingalls is ranked 89th).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braegen Shelor, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maiya Shelor, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Ingalls was led to victory by Brooke Bailey and Olivia Stein. Bailey scored 13 points along with five rebounds, while Stein dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Stein is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Elly Jo Tancayo was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Minneola and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Ingalls, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minneola will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Satanta on January 30th. Satanta comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Ingalls will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bucklin at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Bucklin will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
