Basketball Recap: First Presbyterian Day Takes a Loss

First Presbyterian Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Stratford Academy Eagles 81-31. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.

First Presbyterian Day's loss came despite strong showings from Gavin Wilson and Jones Handberry. Wilson posted six points and five rebounds, while Handberry scored nine points.

Stratford Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Frankie Raines Jr out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 15 points and three steals. Raines Jr has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Stephens, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

First Presbyterian Day's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Stratford Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

First Presbyterian Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-30 loss against John Milledge Academy on the 14th. Stratford Academy has also already played their next contest, a 48-38 win against Piedmont Academy on the 14th.
