San Clemente has gone 6-1 against Beckman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tritons will head out to square off against the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. San Clemente's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Beckman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
San Clemente is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering El Toro just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tritons have suffered since March 21st.
Luca Cifuentes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Puka Iosua was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Beckman waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 9-6.
Jess Peralta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Sophia Morales was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jazmine Cruz was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Beckman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.
San Clemente's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 18-6-1. As for Beckman, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. San Clemente hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Beckman struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
San Clemente skirted past Beckman 4-3 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tritons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
