The Scottsboro Wildcats will challenge the Moody Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Scottsboro sitting on three straight wins and Moody on seven.
Scottsboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Fairview 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since November 1, 2024.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed ten in total. All those points came courtesy of Cole Raeuchle: he added nine points with three field goals and another on an extra-point kick.
Meanwhile, Moody made easy work of Briarwood Christian on Friday and carried off a 51-27 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blue Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Lions are ranked 90th).
Scottsboro better keep an eye on Le'Kamren Meadows. He was instrumental in Moody's win, rushing for 158 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also picking up 49 receiving yards. That's the most rushing yards Meadows has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Jake Lowery, who threw for 241 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
One reason for the win was Moody's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Henry Smith, Joshua Willet, and Dezron Mobley, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Briarwood Christian's side was Smith, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Scottsboro's record is now 9-4. As for Moody, their record now sits at 11-2.
Things could have been worse for Scottsboro, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-10 loss to Moody when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Blaine Burke (who rushed for 141 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 46 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
