Scottsdale Christian Academy is a perfect 7-0 against Veritas Prep since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles take on Veritas Prep Falcons at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Scottsdale Christian Academy is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Fountain Hills on Tuesday. Scottsdale Christian Academy walked away with a 4-1 victory over Fountain Hills.

Owen Kendrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.
Kendrick wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Tims, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another was Luke Troxell, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Veritas Prep made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lincoln Prep on Monday. Veritas Prep was the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Lincoln Prep. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Falcons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Like Scottsdale Christian Academy, Veritas Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Cortes. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Cortes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Tico Lentz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Baylor Arnold was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Veritas Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Prep only posted an OBP of .321.
Scottsdale Christian Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.6 runs. As for Veritas Prep, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Veritas Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Scottsdale Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Veritas Prep, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Scottsdale Christian Academy's hitters?
Scottsdale Christian Academy took their victory against Veritas Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 13-2. Will Scottsdale Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Veritas Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
