The Onaga Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 66-38 loss at the hands of Hanover. While losing is never fun, Onaga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Wildcats are ranked 96th).
Onaga's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Casen Hutfles, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Konnor Nider who scored 13 points along with three steals. That was a full 34.2% of Onaga's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hanover found their leader in underclassman Tanner Bruna, who scored 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Meyn, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Onaga's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Hanover, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Onaga will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Hanover, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
