Softball Recap: West Branch Comes Up Short

After flying high against Alliance on Friday, West Branch came back down to earth. The Warriors fell just short of the Jackson Polar Bears by a score of 11-10 on Monday. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mati Hawk made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Libbie Davis, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

West Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Branch will head out to face off against Marlington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dukes have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to challenge Hoover at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Polar Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
