The Davis Darts will head out to face off against the Fremont Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Davis nor Syracuse made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Darts had just enough and edged out the Titans 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Darts have posted since April 8th.
Serena Roth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Davis let Norah Sunderland and Jewel Korth run wild. Sunderland went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Korth went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Korth has posted since back in March of 2024.
Davis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Fremont unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of West Jordan by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Silverwolves have suffered since March 21st.
Cara Henrie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Saige Steele, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Davis' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
Fremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Davis has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Fremont, though, as they've been averaging 10.1 hits. Given Davis' sizable advantage in that area, the Silverwolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Davis took their victory against Fremont when the teams last played on April 10th by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Darts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
