Two dominant players in Nick Zarate and Javier Martinez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jubilee Brownsville Titans will be home for the holidays to greet the Hidalgo Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Friday, Jubilee Brownsville was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to IDEA Edinburg College Prep. Jubilee Brownsville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Hidalgo had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past STX with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-41. The victory was just what Hidalgo needed coming off of a 57-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Hidalgo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Troy Sanchez, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Edgar Jauregui was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Jubilee Brownsville bumped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hidalgo, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Jubilee Brownsville strolled past Hidalgo when the teams last played back in January by a score of 67-53. Will Jubilee Brownsville repeat their success, or does Hidalgo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
