Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Christian Lancers vs. Bradenton Christian Panthers

The Cambridge Christian Lancers will square off against the Bradenton Christian Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Cambridge Christian got the win against Sarasota Christian by a conclusive 65-40. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-17.

Cambridge Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zay Burton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Burton has posted since back in February of 2024. Caden Martinez was another key player, going 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Cambridge Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bradenton Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-47 win over Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy on Monday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Eagles are ranked 655th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bradenton Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Cambridge Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Cambridge Christian was taken down by Bradenton Christian 77-48 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Cambridge Christian, Jaden Baker (who went 9 for 18 en route to 22 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
