Starkville hadn't done well against New Hope recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Trojans. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Yellowjackets this season.

While Starkville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 25-15.

Campbell Davis paced Starkville's offense, picking up eight kills. Davis got some help from Janiya Yarbrough and her 12 assists. Yarbrough was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The victory made it two in a row for Starkville and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for New Hope, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Starkville has already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Choctaw County on the 16th. As for New Hope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Vancleave on the 16th.
