Riverbend has gone 8-2 against Brooke Point recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Black Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Riverbend will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
While Riverbend's victory against Stafford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Indians 9-7.
Chloe King spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riverbend let Maddie Baugh and Isa Barber run wild. Baugh got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Barber got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Baugh a new career-high. Norah Clark was another key player, going 2-for-6 with two runs and one stolen base.
Riverbend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Brooke Point came up short against Colonial Forge on Friday and fell 7-3. The Black Hawks have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Lizzy Hastings made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Catie Alley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Riverbend's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Brooke Point, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
Brooke Point's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Riverbend has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Brooke Point, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Riverbend keep running through batters, or will the Black Hawks buck the trend?
Everything went Riverbend's way against Brooke Point in their previous meeting back in April, as Riverbend made off with a 16-6 win. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Black Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
