South Webster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 61-27 win over Oak Hill at home. Given South Webster's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Oak Hill is ranked 585th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Webster's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Roberts, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The game was Roberts' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Sommer, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 78-44 victory over Portsmouth West. That looming 78-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Fairland yet this season.
South Webster's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Fairland, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
South Webster came up short against Fairland in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, falling 61-51. Can South Webster avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
