There's no place like home for the Seymour Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They secured a 40-36 W over Torrington on Friday. For Seymour, this counts as revenge for the 50-43 loss Torrington walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Leading Seymour to victory were Jillian Keough and Skylar Barton. Keough scored 13 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds, while Barton scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Mia Cunningham, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Torrington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Haley Burger, who scored ten points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilah Boulli, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Seymour's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Torrington, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Seymour will head out on the road to face off against St. Paul Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Torrington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Wilby at 7:00 p.m.
