First Flight extended their winning streak to 18 games thanks to a huge performance from Maddy Beatson. The Nighthawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over the Currituck County Knights on Friday thanks in part to Beatson, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 18 points and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played.
Currituck County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna White, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. White is becoming a predictor of the Knights' success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 16-4 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Dawson, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
First Flight's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Currituck County, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.
