The Faustina Academy Falcons will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Trinity Christian Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Faustina Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by Lakewood Presbyterian at home to the tune of 77-48.
Ben Nelson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Finn Marsden, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lakewood Presbyterian 98-51 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-18.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Judah Moore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Moore is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Thomas, who scored 27 points along with five assists and three steals.
Faustina Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
Faustina Academy was taken down by Trinity Christian Academy 78-43 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Trinity Christian Academy's Luke Rolen, who dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.
