The Viera Hawks will take on the Hagerty Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Viera is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Viera is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering South Lake just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6.
Viera got a good showing from Isabella Kapatoes, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kapatoes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tori Berry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Farinhas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Hagerty posted their closest victory since March 27th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oviedo 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Addison Dilger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Ana Roman was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Abi Fitch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Viera's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Hagerty, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Viera hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hagerty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Viera suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Hagerty in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will the Hawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
