After losing to the Van Wert Cougars the last time they met, the Kenton Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Kenton walked away with a 34-25 win over Van Wert on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kenton.
Despite the loss, Van Wert saw an underclassman step up: Amaya Dowdy scored six points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Dowdy posted two or more blocks.
Van Wert struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Kenton's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Van Wert, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Kenton will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Shawnee at 7:30 p.m. Kenton is facing Shawnee at the right time seeing as Shawnee is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Van Wert, they will head out on the road to take on Elida at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
