The Medina Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Newfane at home and fell 80-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Medina in their matchups with Newfane: they've now lost five in a row.
Medina's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Woodworth, who scored 11 points. Christian Moss was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Ben Dickinson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds for Newfane. The team also got some help courtesy of Capen Mac, who scored 14 points.
Medina has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Newfane, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.
Medina will head out on the road to face off against Albion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Albion is on a five-game streak of home losses, Medina a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Newfane will take on Royalton-Hartland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Newfane is coming into the matchup with 16 straight victories at home, so Royalton-Hartland is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
