Emma Shipley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Palm Harbor University let Peyton Flynn and Charlie McDonald run wild. Flynn scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while McDonald scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Olivia Heal also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Palm Harbor University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Largo lost 10-1 to East Lake on Tuesday. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Palm Harbor University's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Largo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Largo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palm Harbor University has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Largo, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Palm Harbor University's sizable advantage in that area, Largo will need to find a way to close that gap.
