Sanborn Regional had trouble last week, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. On Saturday they take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 2:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Sanborn Regional, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
The match between Sanborn Regional and Pelham was not a total blowout, but with Sanborn Regional falling 13-32, it was darn close.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Thomas Aquinas beat Alvirne 26-22. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (20) and coasted on those for the victory.
St. Thomas Aquinas's win lifted them to 2-0 while Sanborn Regional's loss dropped them down to 1-1. We'll find out if St. Thomas Aquinas can add another positive mark to their record or if Sanborn Regional can shake off the loss and take the spring out of St. Thomas Aquinas's step.
