It was a proper cat-fight when Cannon duked it out with Covenant Day on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against  the Lions, falling  3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-2  back in August.
 The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-20,  25-14.
 Kendall Laguerre paced Cannon's offense, picking up six kills. Laguerre got some help from  Mia McHugh and her eight assists. Finally,  Delaney Bruderek kept Cannon's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
 Covenant Day found their leader in sophomore  Campbell Dunlap, who  had five  aces and three  digs. Those five  aces set a new season-high mark for  Dunlap.  Bella Coffren also deserves some recognition as  she  posted her first  assist of the season.
Cannon has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13-1 record  this season. As for Covenant Day, their record is now 9-10.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cannon is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Charlotte Christian  at 6:15  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Covenant Day will  take on  rival Charlotte Country Day School  at 6:15  p.m.  on Thursday.
