If The Papillion-LaVista South Titans were feeling good off their 34-10 takedown of the Bellevue East Chieftains last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Papillion-LaVista South was the victim of a rough 49-28 loss at the hands of Bellevue West on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Papillion-LaVista South in their matchups with Bellevue West: they've now lost eight in a row.
Papillion-LaVista South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Jones, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Royceon Skogerboe was in the mix too, providing Papillion-LaVista South with two touchdowns.
Cj Gauff was on fire for Bellevue West: he rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mcmorris, who picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Papillion-LaVista South's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Bellevue West, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Papillion-LaVista South will square off against Elkhorn South on Friday. Elkhorn South will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Bellevue West, they will head out on the road to face off against Papillion-LaVista at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Papillion-LaVista is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
