Softball Recap: Providence Day Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Providence Day put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Ambassador Christian School Lions 15-0. Give the Chargers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Rachel Lyons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Hartsell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Glosson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Providence Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Providence Day pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ambassador Christian School, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Day will venture away from home to take on Charlotte Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Charlotte Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Ambassador Christian School, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Piedmont Community Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Piedmont Community Charter also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 8.4 runs per game.
