Petersburg is 8-1 against Frankfort since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Petersburg gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Pendleton County as they made off with a 12-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Vikings have posted against the Wildcat since March 27, 2019.
Kinsley Crites spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miley Tingler, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ella Chew, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Petersburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.
Meanwhile, Frankfort put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Berkeley Springs 16-1.
Avery Noel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Noel was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Frankfort got a massive performance out of Tayler Likens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Claire Westfall was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Frankfort pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Petersburg, their record now sits at 10-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Petersburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Frankfort struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
