The 14th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard passed through Pennsylvania on Monday, January 28 to recognize
Cathedral Prep (Erie, Pa.) High School and its football team for winning a state championship and earning a high national ranking.
After having their 28-game winning streak snapped with a 24-21 season opening loss to Pittsburgh Central Catholic, the Ramblers won 13 of their final 15 games and upended Imhotep Charter 38-7 in the
PIAA Class 4A state championship contest. With the win, the Ramblers claimed their third straight state football title and earned the No. 86 ranking in

Cathedral Prep now owns five state football titles, including the championships won in 2012 and 2017 that netted the Ramblers a visit from the TOC after Cathedral Prep capped those seasons ranked No. 41 and No. 90 in MaxPreps' National Rankings respectively.
Interestingly, Cathedral Prep has played Imhotep Charter in the state championship contest four times, losing the first one, but conquering the Philadelphia school in each of the past three seasons. One can easily say that the Ramblers and the Panthers have developed a healthy, but fierce rivalry.
Staff Sergeant Justin Fuller and Sergeant Tad Pierce, both of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, presented Cathedral Prep coach Michael Mischler with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy during a celebration that was held at the David Bowes Auditorium.
SSG Fuller thanked the school for allowing the Pennsylvania Army National Guard to take part in honoring the Ramblers and spoke briefly about courage, hard work, and character, shared character traits of the Army National Guard and a state championship football team.
Mischler then talked about the value of the information that MaxPreps provides as a helpful resource that his football program uses throughout the season. Mischler also spent several minutes addressing the Ramblers, noting their determination and his pride in the efforts they put forth last fall.
With an enrollment of 900 students, Cathedral Preparatory School's mission statement describes the school as a "Christ-centered, college preparatory school of the Diocese of Erie, with a foundation of faith, family, excellence and tradition and developing men of spirit, mind, and body."
The stated obligation of the administration and faculty is to "form men for greatness," emphasizing the development of strong character and academic excellence. Congratulations to the Cathedral Prep Ramblers! You continue to be one of the BEST in the country!
