CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A big 28-point second quarter helped carry the Mavericks to a 55-7 victory over North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.) on Saturday.
Mallard Creek scored on a
James Smith touchdown run, a passing touchdown, a passing touchdown and a Smith touchdown pass to
Jaylen Samuels in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Samuels in the first quarter, MC led 34-0 at the half.
The Charlotte school grew its lead to 48 points entering the fourth quarter. The Mavericks scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Samuels.
With the win Mallard Creek extended its winning streak to 11 games. Mallard Creek defeated Robinson 62-0 last week.
North Mecklenburg's only touchdown came on a 7-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
MC went into the matchup giving up only 7.2 points per game.
The loss was the third in a row for the Vikings.
