Baseball Recap: Richland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Richland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on the Steelville Cardinals with a sharp 14-4 win on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2025.

Aden Pallai was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Richland got a massive performance out of Ethan Butteris, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Butteris has posted since back in April of 2025. London Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Richland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Richland back to even at 3-3. As for Steelville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Richland will challenge Bell City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Steelville, they will take on Pacific at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
