Baseball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Takes Down Doral Academy in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and St. Thomas Aquinas had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Doral Academy Firebirds on Saturday. Considering the Raiders have won 20 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Thomas Aquinas got a massive performance out of Brady Buxbaum, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Andrew Alvarez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas pushed their record up to 27-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Doral Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-8-1.

Coming up, St. Thomas Aquinas will square off against Bloomingdale at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulls' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Doral Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
