If the St. Stephens Indians were feeling good off their 63-13 takedown of the West Iredell Warriors last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Stephens took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, St. Stephens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Raiders are ranked 100th).
When it comes to explaining why St. Stephens lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Kennedy Blevins. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Blevins hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Molli Harris, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
St. Stephens' loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for North Iredell, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.
St. Stephens will head out on the road to face off against the Red Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Iredell, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully North Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
