Kherington Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cali Davis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Grace Arruda was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Sherwood made easy work of Newberg on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Bowmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Sherwood got a massive performance out of Anika Brandt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisha Cornwell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Forest Grove's record is now 17-2. As for Sherwood, their record now sits at 16-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Forest Grove hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sherwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Forest Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Sherwood in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
