The Friends Quakers will head out on the road to challenge the Archbishop Curley Friars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Friends is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Friends fought the good fight in their overtime game against Chapelgate Christian Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 70-67. Friends has not had much luck with Chapelgate Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Archbishop Curley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over Indian Creek. The win was a breath of fresh air for Archbishop Curley as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Friends has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Archbishop Curley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.
Friends was able to grind out a solid victory over Archbishop Curley when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 60-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Friends since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
