The Watauga Pioneers can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Ashe County 78-38 at home. While fans of Watauga might be used to big wins, the 40-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Watauga was led to victory by Josiah Railey and Cade Keller. Railey scored 15 points along with six assists and four steals, while Keller scored 21 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Jackson Pryor, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Ashe County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ian Graybeal, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Lemly, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
The victory (which was Watauga's third in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Ashe County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watauga will take on Hibriten at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Watauga's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Ashe County, they will head out on the road to face off against Alexander Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
