Baseball Recap: Cannon Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Cannon hadn't done well against Providence Day recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 4-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Victor Lopez and Avi Pandey dominated on the mound. Lopez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Pandey pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Lopez posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Cannon's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bennett Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. John Murash also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cannon's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Providence Day, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 12-11 record.

Cannon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 win against Charlotte Country Day School on the 29th. As for Providence Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-3 victory against Charlotte Latin on the 29th.
