Softball Recap: Chipley Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

Chipley's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let Malone get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering Chipley has won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lauren Waits was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Chipley let Jadyn Pettis and Adalyn Nelson run wild. Pettis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Nelson went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Nelson a new career-high. Julia Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Chipley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Malone only posted an OBP of .231.

Chipley is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Malone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Chipley will head out on the road to challenge Altha at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Malone, they will square off against Poplar Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
