St. Stephen's & St. Agnes extended the longest winning streak in VISFA Freelance this week by beating Paul VI, 28-24. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Saints.
Potomac School took down St. James 36-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Hampton Christian's dynamic duo of Skyler Gray and Casey Simpson proved tough for Atlantic Shores Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gray threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns and Simpson had 135 yards receiving. Stephen Iverson helped Hampton Christian's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 86 yards.
John Pope was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 182 yards on 18 carries as Portsmouth Christian lost to the Seahawks. Taylor Weeks also contributed to the rushing game with 123 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Ish Seisay and Darius Manora St. Stephen's & St. Agnes has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Seisay leads the league in passing with 728 yards, while Manora has rushed for 697 yards this season. Hampton Christian's Iverson leads the league in receiving yards with 335 on 23 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Benedictine takes on the Panthers. As it stands, the Cadets are in fourth, while Paul VI is in sixth.
The Panthers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,618 from 8,467. The advance stemmed from a 36-0 victory over the Saints last week.
