The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks will face off against the All Saints' Academy Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Santa Fe Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
Santa Fe Catholic's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. They put the hurt on Tenoroc with a sharp 16-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Claire McGee made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Santa Fe Catholic let Jackie Miranda and Kindra Kelch run wild. Miranda went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Kelch went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Miranda has posted since back in March. Declyn Keyser was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, All Saints' Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 17-2 to Cambridge Christian.
All Saints' Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cira Whitchard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Santa Fe Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for All Saints' Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Santa Fe Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like All Saints' Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Fe Catholic took their victory against All Saints' Academy in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 15-5 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
