Oceanside is 8-2 against Belfast since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Oceanside Mariners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Belfast Lions at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oceanside has ten straight wins, Belfast has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Oceanside put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Spruce Mountain on the road to the tune of 78-38. Given Oceanside's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Spruce Mountain is ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oceanside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Galley, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Galley is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohen Galley, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Belfast, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-48 loss to Mount View on Monday. Belfast has struggled against Mount View recently, as their matchup on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Oceanside pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.4 points. As for Belfast, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Everything came up roses for Oceanside against Belfast in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 80-49 victory. Does Oceanside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Belfast turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
