The Salem Hills Skyhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Wasatch Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem Hills will be strutting in after a win while Wasatch will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Salem Hills earned a 47-34 win over Cedar Valley.
Salem Hills' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Chenielle Nye, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Brooke Warren, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Nye also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Tasker, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Salem Hills' lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Tasker got a bit more time on the court (19 vs. her season average of 9.93). Tasker made the most of the opportunity, scoring ten points along with six rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Wasatch's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Spanish Fork on the road by a decisive 62-48 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wasatch came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Spanish Fork is ranked 63rd).
Salem Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Wasatch, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.
Salem Hills lost to Wasatch on the road by a decisive 67-49 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wasatch's Ashley Garner, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds.
