The Pueblo Central Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Pueblo East Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
Pueblo Central was handed a two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Hornets on Monday. Pueblo Central was the clear victor by a 56-36 margin over the Hornets.
Pueblo Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaime Enciso gonzalez, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvon Evans, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Pueblo East had to suffer through a rough 69-32 loss at the hands of the Cyclones. Pueblo East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pueblo Central's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Pueblo East, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Pueblo Central beat the Eagles 56-43 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pueblo Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
