Things were looking good for Lake Hamilton after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Arkansas, falling 15-3.
Ella Wilcox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sheridan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Pine Bluff get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Rayleigh Umholtz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Skylar Sterritt was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Averie Redd, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sheridan's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Hamilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Lake Hamilton suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Sheridan when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
