The Cedar Cliff Colts will square off against the Manheim Township Blue Streaks at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cedar Cliff 2.9, Manheim Township 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Cedar Cliff managed to slip by Cumberland Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Colts came up short against the Eagles on Monday, falling 8-2. The Colts' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Cedar Cliff saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bennett Secrest, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Grant Enders was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Manheim Township entered their tilt with Northeastern on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Streaks, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Manheim Township also got a great performance from Tyler Shirk as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Manheim Township let Jack Kenneff and Jacob Carrasco run wild. Kenneff went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Carrasco went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Kenneff a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor DelVecchio, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Manheim Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Manheim Township's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Cedar Cliff, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.
Everything went Cedar Cliff's way against Manheim Township when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as Cedar Cliff made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Blue Streaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
