Monterey hasn't had much luck against Hollister recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dores will host the Haybalers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Monterey 3.5, Hollister 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Monterey's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Everett Alvarez by a score of 4-0. The Dores haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Ella Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryanna Elliott, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Hollister had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Chowchilla on Saturday. The Haybalers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th.
Eliana Hatchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Sophia Galindo was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Maddy Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Monterey's victory bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Hollister, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
