The Stillwater Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Granville Golden Horde at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stillwater is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Stillwater is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Greenwich. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Witches on their field since April 29, 2022.
Eden Resch made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Resch was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Resch wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Katie Coogan, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Emery Powers was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Granville proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Horde.
Like Stillwater, Granville also got a great game from a two-way player: Lillian Baker. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Baker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline Baker, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joysie Velez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Granville pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Stillwater, their record is now 11-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stillwater hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Granville struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
