Given Southlake Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while San Marcos HomeSchool is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why San Marcos HomeSchool lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kayla McGarity. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 10 rebounds. McGarity scored a full 50% of San Marcos HomeSchool's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Beck, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Southlake Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for San Marcos HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Southlake Carroll will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against East Central at 4:00 p.m. on November 30th. East Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game. As for San Marcos HomeSchool, they will take on Mansfield Summit at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
