Joseph Angelo and Max McTighe were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Angelo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, McTighe tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Angelo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Angelo went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while McTighe went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Angelo a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nick Kullman was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Walker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Berean Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Diablo only posted an OBP of .125.
Mt. Diablo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Berean Christian, their record is now 11-5.
Mt. Diablo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Berean Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Mt. Diablo, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Berean Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
