DeSoto leapfrogged Katy to the top of this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25 after rolling up 675 yards and an astounding 40 first downs in a 60-27 blowout of Duncanville.
DeSoto and Katy are two of 13 teams ranked in this week's Top 25 that have a chance for a 10-0 record in the regular season.
Abilene and Mesquite, both 9-0, are just a game away from regular season perfection.
The remaining nine ranked teams that are 8-0 and need two wins to reach a perfect 10: Steele (Cibolo), North Shore (Houston), Coppell, Westfield (Houston), Dawson (Pearland), Smithson Valley (Spring Branch), Clear Creek (League City), Midway (Waco) and Lamar (Houston).
District 27-5A leader Brandeis (San Antonio) made its debut this week at No. 25, while Lancaster dropped out after losing 17-0 to 5-3 Red Oak.

2. Katy 8-0 (1)Rodney Anderson rushed for two touchdowns and scored on a 69-yard pass from
Kiley Huddleston to help the Tigers roll over 1-7 Strake Jesuit (Houston) 62-7. Katy trailed 7-0 in the first quarter before going on a 62-0 point spree. On Saturday the Tigers will face 6-2 Cinco Ranch (Katy) in a District 19-5A showdown.
3. Steele (Cibolo) 8-0 (3)Justin Stockton rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-0 blanking for 5-3 East Central (San Antonio).
Jalen Maddox and
John Burton helped in the shutout with pass interceptions. The Knights improved to 36 wins in their last 37 games. On Friday Steele makes a road trip to face 0-8 Carroll (Corpus Christi).
4. North Shore (Houston) 8-0 (4)The Mustangs capitalized on five turnovers to derail 3-5 West Brook (Beaumont) 34-7. Senior defensive back
Jomal Wiltz returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown just before halftime for a 28-0 lead at the break. On Friday North Shore will face a District 21-5A showdown against 7-1 La Porte.

5. Coppell 8-0 (5)The Cowboys defense recovered three fumbles that led to 17 points in the first half of a 31-0 blanking of 2-6 Marcus (Flower Mound). Playing its first home game since the death of teammate Jacob Logan, Coppell quarterback
Colby Mahon threw a pair of touchdown passes and the defense halted four fourth-down gambles by Marcus as Coppell clinched a playoff berth. On Thursday the Cowboys will meet 4-3 Ryan (Denton) on the road.
6. Allen 7-1 (6)Sophomore
Kyler Murray, the son of former Texas A&M quarterback Kevin Murray, rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 207 yards in a 34-7 thumping of 5-3 Boyd (McKinney). The Eagles will try to remain unbeaten in District 10-5A on Friday when they travel to 5-3 McKinney.
7. Abilene 9-0 (7)Marcell Porter rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-6 victory over 0-8 Odessa.
Evin Abbe threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles clinched a share of the District 2-5A title. After an open date, Abilene concludes the regular season against Midland on Nov. 9.
8. Carroll (Southlake) 7-1 (8)Quarterback
Kenny Hill, a Texas A&M commit, threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns and added 90 rushing yards and three scores in a 56-7 rout of 2-6 Keller. The defending Class 5A Division I state champions clinched a playoff spot. On Friday, the Dragons host 3-5 Fossil Ridge (Keller).
9. Bowie (Arlington) 7-1 (9)Junior
Brican Crossley accounted for four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving, in a 55-14 thumping of 2-6 Sam Houston (Arlington).
Don Jerry rushed for 204 yards for the Volunteers. The schedule toughens for the Vols the next two weeks as they face 7-1 Arlington on Friday and 6-2 Martin (Arlington) on Nov. 8.
10. Westfield (Houston) 8-0 (10)Emmitt Raleigh rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns as the Mustangs clinched a District 13-5A playoff berth with a 31-6 victory over 1-7 Klein Oak (Spring). Raleigh had to work for his yardage. No run was longer than seven yards. Up next for the Mustangs is 3-5 Kingwood on Friday.
11. Skyline (Dallas) 7-1 (11)Junior running back
Derrick Dixon rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-20 rout of 3-5 Richardson. Quarterback
Devante Kincade threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns. The win improved the Raiders to 5-0 in District 9-5A. On Thursday Skyline will meet 2-6 W.T. White (Dallas).
12. Dawson (Pearland) 8-0 (12)James White, a Texas A&M commit, rushed for 203 yards and his team‘s final four touchdowns in a 43-33 victory over 6-2 Friendswood in a District 24-4A showdown. On Friday, Dawson makes a road trip to take on 2-6 Ball (Galveston).
13. Mesquite 9-0 (13)Quarterback
Alex Cooper completed 15-of-17 passes for 257 yards and five touchdowns in a 51-9 rout of 1-7 Lee (Tyler). Cooper's first three touchdown throws went to
Rashard Higgins, who went over 1,000 yards in receiving for the season. The Skeeters complete their regular season on Friday with a visit to 3-5 Rockwall.

14. Trinity (Euless) 6-2 (14)The Trojans trailed 2-6 Grapevine 15-14 at halftime but found their stride in the second half of a 49-15 victory. Quarterback
Matt Hawkins had a pair of touchdown runs in Trinity's 35-point second half. On Friday, the Trojans will host 3-5 Irving.
15. Smithson Valley (Spring Branch) 8-0 (15)The offense was not clicking, but the Rangers defense was more than able to pick up the slack, holding 2-6 Canyon (New Braunfels) to two first downs and 58 yards in the first half of a 35-3 victory. It was win No. 200 at the school for coach Larry Hill. On Friday, the Rangers host 5-3 Wagner (San Antonio).
16. Port Arthur Memorial (Port Arthur) 7-1 (16)Defensive tackles
Matthew Romar and
Walter Oliver combined for 12 tackles to help the Titans to their fifth shutout win in school history, 41-0 over 1-8 Sterling (Baytown). Offensively,
Ricky Fisk threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. On Friday, Memorial will travel to face 3-5 West Brook (Beaumont).
17. Clear Creek (League City) 8-0 (17)Jarrett Hildreth threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats subdued 4-5 Clear Brook (Friendswood) 41-28. Kaliq Kokuma rushed for 96 yards and scored twice. On Friday coach Darrell Warden's team will face 5-3 Brazoswood (Clute).
18. Manvel 7-1 (18)Shane McCarley threw for 315 yards and six touchdowns, three each to
Austin Bennett and
Carlos Thompson, in a 49-3 blowout of 3-5 Rayburn (Pasadena). On Friday, the Mavericks face a District 22-5A showdown against 7-1 Pearland.
19. Midway (Waco) 8-0 (19)With the score 20-20 in the third quarter against 1-7 Shoemaker (Killeen),
Kramer Robertson sparked Midway to a 40-20 victory. Robertson had touchdown runs of 10 and 37 yards in between a 37-yard scoring pass to
Jayson Clements, who also had a 75-yard touchdown reception in the first half. On Thursday, Midway will face 4-4 Harker Heights.
20. Tyler 7-1 (21)Quarterback
Greg Ward, a University of Houston commit, accounted for five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) in a 59-7 rout of 3-5 Jacksonville.
Tyus Bowser led the defense with two sacks and three caused fumbles. On Friday the Lions travel to 0-8 Nacogdoches.
21. Klein Collins (Spring) 7-1 (22)The Tigers have gotten back on course with five straight wins since losing the District 13-5A opener to Westfield on Sept. 13. Coming off an open week, the Tigers will face 5-4 Klein on Friday.
22. Lake Travis (Austin) 7-1 (23)Grant Foster had six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-6 victory over 3-5 Del Valle. Cavaliers quarterback
Baker Mayfield was 24-of-34 passing for 279 yards. Up next is a showdown for the District 15-4A title against 5-3 Westlake (Austin).
23. Martin (Arlington) 6-2 (24)Kyle Hicks, a University of Texas commit, rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-21 victory over 3-5 Lamar (Arlington). Hicks also threw for 81 yards and a score. After being stopped on its first two possessions, Martin scored on six straight. Up next is 2-6 Sam Houston (Arlington) on Friday.

24. Lamar (Houston) 8-0 (25)Darrell Colbert threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-0 thumping of 3-5 Madison (Houston). Touchdown passes went to
Beau Wells,
Cory Mitchell and
Shelby Walker. On Friday, the Redskins will face 4-4 Bellaire (Houston).
25. Brandeis (San Antonio) 7-1 (NR)Trinton Ynclan rushed for 238 yards to lead the Broncos to a 40-26 triumph over 4-5 Jay (San Antonio). Brandeis improved to 6-0 in District 27-5A. Up next on Friday is 4-4 Marshall (San Antonio).
