The Fredericktown Black Cats won the last time they faced the Kingston Cougars, and things went their way on Saturday too. Fredericktown took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 52-18 victory over the Cougars. Given Fredericktown's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Cougars are ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fredericktown was led to victory by Ava Penuel and Amelia Miller. Penuel dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Miller scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Keira Francis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Fredericktown and bumps their season record up to 10-11. As for Kingston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.
Fredericktown will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. North County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Kingston, they will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Potosi and three for the Cougars.
