The Union County Patriots will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Rushville Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Union County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Last Friday, Union County came up short against Seton Catholic and fell 44-33.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mason Stewart, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Logan Boone was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Rushville had to settle for a 38-36 defeat against Blackford on Saturday.
Like Union County, Rushville lost despite seeing results from several players. Nick Jarman led the charge by scoring nine points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Woolf, who scored four points.
Union County's record now sits at 2-4. Rushville's record is now 1-9.
Union County skirted past Rushville 41-39 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
