Wilson (West Lawn, Pa.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 31-12 win over
Reading (Pa.).
The Bulldogs put up seven points in the opening frame. Wilson scored on a
Kyle Gaynor touchdown pass to
Javon Young and a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, WHS led 10-6 at the half.
The West Lawn school expanded its lead to five points entering the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Jesse Poore.
The Knights'
Sterling Young-trapp was the standout player for his team. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
Rubright stood out for Wilson in the win. The junior kicked one field goal and four extra points.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 41-0 win for WHS.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Bulldogs, which lost to Harrisburg last week, 21-13.
Reading (1-2) goes up against Pottsville in a Berks Inter-County 1 game matchup next week, while Wilson (2-1) locks horns with J.P. McCaskey in a Lancaster-Lebanon 1 game.
